Håkon Matre Aasarød, has been to several cities with architectural ambitions, in and outside Norway. Here in Venice.
Sverre Fehn is probably the most famous Norwegian architect ever. These days some of his best work is presented in Venice, perfectly placed in the fantastic nordic pavillion he built for the Biennale in 1962.
Unfortunately Mr. Fehn could not attend the 11. international Biennale of architecture himself due to his health, but two other architects from Norway has made some waves in the floating city.
Their project is called Fantastic Norway, and it’s based in and around a red caravan. For several years two young architects, Erlend Blakstad Haffner and Håkon Matre Aasarød, have driven to several cities with architectural ambitions, in and outside Norway.
With a special invite from the Biennale, and strategically camped right outside the main entrance, this has been an extremely popular meeting place. Here you could sit and draw, blow soap bubbles, eat salmon or waffles, but most important engage in architectural discussions. Important architects like Herzog & de Meuron, Peter Head and Zaha Hadid did that.
Luxo is proud of helping out by throwing some light on this presentation.
